Read Aloud Thursday

A fellow Crew TOS crew mate has a meme on her blog called Read Aloud Thursday. You can see it on her blog. It is where you discuss what books you and your family are reading. Hopefully next week I can do a better job but this week I am just going to list what we are reading. I have been on the computer entirely too much today! LOL

As a family we are reading The Cabin Faced West by Jean Fritz. We are starting to study Early American History and this is a classic.

This is the story of Ann Hamilton who was very lonely in her new life out west. She longed for her life back in Gettysburg-until a stranger rode into Hamilton Hill and changed her life forever. We are on Chapter 4 and read a chapter every night

before bed.

Bella is reading Little Critters Book Read-It-yourself Storybook. This is a great read aloud for beginner readers. She is progressing great in her new reading program. I am so proud of her.

Griffin is reading Diary of A Wimpy Kid, again.

I am anxiously awaiting Nicolas Sparks' new book, The Last Song. I have loved all of his books. This came out a couple of weeks ago but I am waiting for it to come in at the library. Hopefully by next Thursday I will be able to tell you about this one. In the meantime I am reading Deeply, Madly Manhattan by Nora Roberts.

My husband doesn't like to read but he will read every once in awhile to the kids at night. He's mad at us right now though cuz we made fun of his owl sounds when he read the other night. Still trying to get him to forget about that. It's not a good idea to laugh when your spouse reads to the kids if you want him to continue.

I look forward to seeing what everyone else is reading. Thanks Amy for telling me about this great meme.

I'm so glad you played! :-)

I've never read The Cabin Faced West, but I'm sure it's good because I know Jean Fritz to be a talented writer.

It must be exciting to have readers. My girls are still young, so all of our reading (except for the "forced" phonics instruction) is reading aloud. Our time will come, though.

Tsk, tsk for laughing at your dh's sound effects! ;-) Maybe you guys can "lay low" for a while and he'll forget and start reading aloud again! :-)

Do come back and play again next week!
