Christmas time on Read Aloud Thursday

It's Christmas time at Read Aloud Thursdays. What a great way to share your favorite Christmas story. You can read what everyone else is reading at home on Hope is the Word where this meme originates.

We love Christmas at our house. My kids would probably say their favorite thing is presents. My favorite thing about this time of year is celebrating the birth of our Savior. What a wonderful gift God gave us when he sent his son as a gift to the world that we cannot even comprehend. What a wonderful, loving Heavenly father we have. So, as we enter into this holiday season, we are going to try to read a lot of books about this wonderful gift. Santa stories are great, but Jesus stories are the best.

Our families favorite Christmas story is called Alabaster's Song, Christmas through the Eyes of an angel. This is a wonderful book written by Max Lucado. I really love any book by him but this was is exceptional for children. It tells the story of a little boy who notices the angel on his Christmas tree when it starts talking to him. Alabaster tells the little boy about the joy of singing to Jesus at the first Christmas. My kids love the way Alabaster talks because he is missing his two front teeth.

The moral of the story is to keep looking for miracles at Christmas time in the small things. It reminds me to not get caught up in the bustle of Christmas and forget about the true meaning.

I think your family will love this story and we highly recommend it. Come back next week to see what else our family is reading during this Christmas season.

Please also visit Hope is the Word to see what everyone else is reading. God Bless and Merry Christmas.

So glad you played again! :-)

Thanks for sharing this post at the Mentoring Moments for Christian Women blog carnival. I've never read this book. I'll have to look for it. This would be a fun read for us this Christmas, because one of my little boys just lost his two front (top) teeth AND one of his front bottom teeth a few days ago!

Alabaster's Song is one of our favorite books too. We began reading it when our first child was around five--he's now 16 years old. The animated movie version is good too.
