Product: Yuck
Price: Starts at $16.00 for one pound package
Our family loves science. It's all about the experiments. The dirtier the better. Of course, I'm also one of those moms that loves play-doh and let my kids play with it anywhere in the house.
We received a package from Buckets O Fun that included four different experiments to try. This company has everything from buckets of slime to things that fly that will keep your children busy for hours. You can view their website at http://www.buckets-of-un.com/ to see all of the products they offer.
We have made slime many times when learning about polymers. Wikipedia states that a polymer is a large molecule composed of repeating structural units usually connected by covalent chemical bonds. For regular people like me, we just say they're a whole lot of fun. Buckets-O-Fun has polymers down, let me tell you, but they call them Yuck. Now I assume they call it that because when you make it you may say "Yuck". Not my kids. They said "Wow" and "Awesome". Of course that wouldn't have sounded as neat as Yuck. We received Chunky Yuck, Saucy Yuck, Snowy Yuck, and Sticky Yuck.
My kids favorite was the sticky yuck.
Anything that looks like snot is a hit in our house! The experiments were very easy to do. Just add water. Each type of Yuck needed different amounts of water to get the desired results. Sticky yuck started out as a grainy, white substance and when water was added you get sticky, sticky, sticky. Griffin enjoyed acting like he was blowing his nose in his hand and showing us what he got. It doesn't take much to amuse my kids.
Each form of Yuck can be purchased in 1, 5 and 50 pound increments starting at $16-$20 for the one pound package. Just to give you an idea, the one pound produces anywhere from 25-60 pounds of Yuck. We received a 1 tablespoon package of each kind of Yuck which was plenty to have fun with.
You can also get accessories for the Yuck. Think colored Yuck. We added food coloring to the water and it worked really well for making it colored for us without the Yuck tints. Unfortunately, my camera is causing me fits and I can't include the pictures. As soon as I get it figured out, I'll add them. We put the chunky yuck in a science container we have that has different wells and practiced making all of the colors of the rainbow. This really made for an intensive science lesson on polymers, mixing colors, and also included art. The kids learned how to mix different colors to get new colors. Who knew something called Yuck could be so educational.
Here are the different types of Yuck, again.

The hardest thing about the Yuck, was trying to clean it up without letting it go down the drain. You definitely don't want to do that. We left all of ours in the bowls because if you leave them long enough they are supposed to go back to their original state.
Buckets-O-Fun has other fun activities and fun stuff available. We highly recommend this company. The Yuck would be fun for groups like birthday parties or youth groups. Of course, it is also great as a science lesson.

Smiley guide:
1 Smiley - Product not really for our family. Probably wouldn’t buy. This really should probably be a frown face but we hate to be negative.
2 Smileys - Would maybe buy this product if on sale. Not a great fit for our family.
3 Smileys - We really liked this product and would probably recommend this to friends and fellow homeschoolers.
4 – Smileys – Definitely would buy this if the budget would allow. We suggest you check this out to see if it is a fit for your family.
5 Smileys – Would sell the family pets to get this one (just kidding). A must have for our family and we think you should get it too.
