Gratitude Challenge – Day 2

My Mom and Dad always told me to marry my best friend.  That was one of the best pieces of advice I ever received from them.

It’s day 2 of the Gratitude Challenge which Brenda at Garden of Learning is hosting.

Today I am thankful for David, my best friend, my confidant, the love of my life.   My husband.

We started dating in September of 2001.  He was just a kid at the age of 16 (although he turned 17 just a few days later).  I was 19 years old.  I don’t think his mom and dad liked me too much.  But, who could blame them.  He was their baby.  Heck, he was a baby.  LOL  He was such a cutie.  I fell in love with him pretty quick.  He had such a huge heart and an adorable smile.  He treated me like a princess and I loved it.

102_8276We dated for 3 years and decided we wanted to get married. He finished college in May and we got married on June 3, 1995.  Wasn’t he adorable?   Now, I’m not sharing my wedding picture cuz it’s kinda scary.

So, now we have been married for a little over 16 years.  It seems like forever ago and then again like it was yesterday.  We have shared so many amazing memories.  He really is my best friend.

Our wedding song.

He is very quiet (which I like cuz I get to talk a lot).  But, he knows my deepest fears and has helped me conquer them.  He gets better looking 102_8243every year.  I think he is the sexiest man I know.   Here we are bundled up to ride four wheelers with our friends and kids.  We always have a lot of fun together.

He is truly my favorite person to be around.

We have had the usual ups and downs of marriage.  We fight.  Sometimes a lot.  Usually about money.  But, we always get through the tough times.

He is an amazing father.  I think that is my favorite thing about him.  He loves our kids and it shows.

He loves God.  Okay, this is my favorite thing about him.  He had never went to church until we started dating.  I love that fact that we strive to be children of God together as a family.

He loves me.  Unconditionally.  I’m not so great at housekeeping.  He loves me anyway.  He allows me to homeschool our children and to stay at home.  I am so blessed for this.

He’s not perfect.  But he’s perfect for me.

Thank you God for David who is my soul mate.

Make sure you go check out what everyone else is thankful for over at Garden of Learning.

God Bless.

I am so happy to hear that you love your hubby so much. It is a great thing. Not everyone has that.

I have been married for almost 15 years now. it does seem like a long time, and like a short time too, just like you said.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am really enjoying seeing what others are grateful for.

Oh, and I agree with you. My husband gets better looking every year too! That is so not fair for us women! lol

Thank you for stopping by! I loved your post! You and your hubby sound a lot like me and mine! Even some very close similarities. I am not the greatest housekeeper. It's nice to hear from others that are honest about it. I am now a follower of your blog and look forward to getting to know you.
Hugs and Blessings,
