Fun in the snow

I love Winter!  We are supposed to get 7 inches of snow tomorrow and I couldn’t be happier.

Sitting in front of the fireplace on a snowy day is one of my favorite things to do in the wint er.  We have been using our fireplace as our main source of heat this winter.  Although it is a pain to have to carry in wood and keep the fire going, it has saved us over $400 in just the last two months over what we spent last year.   This is well worth the effort.

My kids love snow too.  They love to go sledding.  Last weekend we 102_7141went to the college by our home and played in the snow.   I’m more of a stand at the top of the hill and watch kind of person.  It’s really because I’m too lazy to walk back up the hill.  I would love it if I had someone or something to carry me back up.   No one volunteered so I just watched.  David and the kids had lots of fun and were completely worn out after about 45 minutes.  It was not too cold and most of the snow had already melted but there was enough on a couple of the hills for the ride down. 102_7121

David used the sled as a ski the first trip down.  He did great until the end when he hit a tree.  LOL  102_7122

This one is all of them walking back up the hill.  Way too far for me.   They end up at the tree line.  102_7138

I love the look on Griffin’s face in this one.   I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t want to ride, the sled isn’t big enough for all of us to fit.  102_7142 Maybe the next big snow, I’ll talk a turn.  I’m hoping David will bring the Gator so I can have fun and not be too pooped to play.

Happy Homeschooling!

7 inches is a lot! I love the snow, too. I just went sledding with my kids about a week ago, and I fell off the sled and scraped myself. The bottom of my jeans was wet all the way through. So I just watched the rest of the time.

We have gotten the 7 inches of snow now and working on more. It isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow sometime. The kids are already asking when we can go sledding again. It looks like this weekend will be another "snow day" for us.
Lisa, it would be great exercise if I decided to participate. LOL

We have had a lot of snow this winter. The kids enjoy going outside and sledding every day. I liked all the pictures. It would be nice if we had a fireplace to save us some money. I have just gotten used to turning the heat down and warming my hand up around a hot cup of water.
