Say Anything – Fun family game

  Photobucket

Company: North Star games

Product:  Say Anything: Family Edition

Cost:  $19.99 (retail)

I’ve told you before that our family loves games.  Because we are home everyday, we usually play at least one game daily.  Cards are high on our list of favorites.  But, we always love to get a new board game.

Photobucket

NorthStar Games has three very cute games that your family will enjoy.  I was able to review Wits and Wagers last year and we all loved it.  You can read that review here.

The kids were excited when we received another game from North Star Games.  You can read about the designers of all of their games by visiting their website.  They seem to be pretty fun guys.  But, what else would you think of people who get to make up great games for a living?  They have to be a lot of fun.

PhotobucketSay Anything Family Edition is recommended for ages 8 and up.   3 to 6 players can play.   It is the winner of 17 awards.  You can get it at Amazon.com, Target and other retail stores.  It retails for $19.99 but I did see it for as low as $13 and some change on Amazon.  This would make a great Christmas gift.

The game comes with

60 question cards with a total of 360 topics,

6 dry erase pens

6 dry erase boards

1 SELECT-O-MATIC-6000 (fancy name for spinner) 12 player tokens

1 dry erase score board

1 full color rules booklet (which of course we lost as soon as the box was opened)

The object of the game is to answer the questions on the cards.  The person asking the question doesn’t write anything.  Everyone else writes on their dry erase boards and turns it face up so everyone can see.  The other players choose which of the answers they think the player who asked the question will pick as their favorite. The person whose turn it is secretly chooses their favorite answer.  Each player gets points based on whether their answer was chosen and if they choose the correct answer matching the player.

Man, that sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is.  It was very easy to learn and can be played rather quickly (about 30 minutes for each game).

My kids aren’t the best spellers, but we still had no trouble playing the game.  It’s fun to see if the kids will answer their questions truthfully or just try to answer what the other person is thinking.

You can see the kids playing here on the living room floor.  The only problem we have had with this games is, we lost the instructions and the kids left the marker lids off of one of the markers so it doesn’t work.  It really isn’t a big deal because we have other dry erase markers we can use.  Dry Erase crayons could also be used for those left handed kiddos in your family.

We also received a second copy of the game by mistake.  The company graciously allowed me to keep it and we gave it to my nephew as part of his birthday gift.  Him and his family also loved it.  Customer service is great at this company.

The website could use a little updating.  This game says coming in 2011 and the last thing written on the Insider page is from November of 2010.  It is very easy to navigate though and has really cute graphics.

There is also an adult Say Anything game that I think would be great.

You can find a store near you that sells their games here.
