American Heritage Education Foundation – TOS review

image

I really enjoy American History.   The best part about it is that I have learned so much while teaching my kids.  It is funny how much more I want to know now that I don’t “have:” to learn it.  As a part of the TOS crew, I was supposed to receive a CD from American Heritage Education Foundation to review.  I waited and waited and it never came.  I’m not sure what happened to it but I was told that I could download the same information from their website.  So, after doing that I was excited to be able to finally see what was on this CD.

I have to admit I was not prepared for what this is.  I was expecting boring facts from American History.  Boy, was I surprised.

The company’s mission impressed me first of all.

Our Mission
AHEF is a non-profit, non-partisan educational foundation dedicated to the understanding and teaching of America's factual and philosophical heritage to promote constructive citizenship and Freedom, Unity, Progress, and Responsibility among our students and citizens.

AHEF accomplishes this patriotic mission by writing, producing, and distributing FREE K-12 lesson plans to teachers, students, and families in all 50 states and through additional initiatives, programs, and partnerships.

I think our country needs more responsibility using factual heritage.  I think the US has forgotten where our county started and what it was founded on.  This curriculum is great at showing this.    When I say curriculum, that is what you receive.  A complete American History curriculum for kindergarten through 12th grade.  (Don’t forget it’s free)  You know the saying, “You get what you pay for”?  This is definitely not the case with American Heritage.  The lesson plans discuss character traits such as freedom and responsibility while looking at certain parts of our nation’s history including

    • Colonial America
    • The U.S. Constitution
    • The Declaration of Independence
    • Our National Motto
    • The Bill of Rights
    • Thanksgiving

The plans for all grade levels are included on the one disc.  They even include a Spanish version on the CD.

Did you read the mission statement?  Did you notice the word “FREE”.  That means for you too.  This is not a special and you don’t need a coupon.  It is totally FREE.

The company would like every teacher to have access to this important information which is why they are offering it for free.   I liked that the elementary section included the time it should take to teach that lesson, a list of materials that are needed, and prep to get ready.  I appreciate that so that I am not in the dark about what it takes to get ready.

We have just started American History so we will definitely be using this curriculum.  I can’t wait to teach my children about how our country was founded.  Hopefully they will see that we started out as a God loving, God Fearing nation.  My prayer is that we will return to that one day.

Go to www.americanheritage.org to get this $150.00 value American History curriculum at no charge.  You can choose a CD or download directly from the website.  If you would rather have a printed version, you can get a printed binder version also for $19.50 per level (elementary, middle, high).

** Please note I received a free copy of American Heritage Education Foundation in exchange for my honest opinion in this review.  No other compensation was provided.
